I personally want to study at the Art Students League because I want to improve and cultivate my skills to become a better artist. I feel that the Art Students League could really help me create work that I will be proud of in the future. Taking classes at the League will be helpful as I work to develop a strong portfolio for college.

I hope to make a career out of fine arts when I grow up, and while I have other plans just in case that does not work out, I am dedicated to the work I do as an artist. There’s something very special about capturing the likeness of a subject on a canvas. It makes the subject feel alive more than any photo, and that’s what I love about art. I love being able to see an artist’s vision of a subject through their work.
I feel the artist that influenced me the most has been J. C. Leyendecker, for his expressive poses, colors, and subjects. The way he captures his figurative characters makes me want to practice anatomy, study faces, and study clothing. He translates a perfect moment in time into his drawings; this really inspires me to achieve his level of skill and mastery.
