This month, we explore the threads that connect our communities and environment, guided by the art and reflections of current Seeds student, Anita Keane and Advisory Board member, Xin Song. In our new “Understory” series, featuring the stories and aspirations of our Seedlings, Anita shares her journey of learning to crochet and how she plans to use her designs to spark conversations about the environmental toll of fast fashion. Mei Bock engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Seeds Advisory Board member Xin Song, whose art encourages us to look closer at the details and recognize the inherent memory in material. Additionally, we have the privilege of showcasing recent works by Seeds alumni Noah Boulton. In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, we’ve curated a selection of current exhibitions in NYC, featuring Indigenous artists and themes.

We hope you enjoy learning more about the material influences of our Seeds students and advisory board artists.

~ Mei and Mikayla
