What’s Sprouting:

From the cold of winter, our Seedlings bloom. This issue includes three student features that showcase the incredible diversity of work and artistic journeys from across our program. Learn about Amber Sevilla’s layered meditations on interior and exterior realms of emotion, as well as her expanding practice from painting into mixed media. Ava Kelis Wright discusses her interdisciplinary creative endeavors spanning painting, collage, music and video game design, and charts the methods she’s learned to continue making and promoting her work. Artist and adaptive sailor, Brandon Naula, describes his unique journey making the city his classroom both on land and water. 

Our issue also highlights opportunities available to students, including free classes, internships, and professional fellowships in the arts. We spotlight exhibitions across the city, including a review of “Trenton Doyle Hancock Confronts Philip Guston” by Seeds intern Willa Pelschoen.

Finally, we highlight the breadth of work done across the Seeds Program this past semester. This includes lessons taught by our Teaching Artists and work made by Seeds Scholars in the League’s studios. We also celebrate the achievements of our seedlings, including high school graduations and college acceptances. We hope you enjoy the read and feel the warmth of inspiration for our accomplished Seeds community.
