- Description: Swiss Institute presents overturns, the first institutional solo exhibition in the US by Nolan Oswald Dennis. Dennis traverses the subterrains of what they call a “black consciousness of space,” a multivalent conceptual framework for exploring the material and metaphysical conditions of decolonization. Employing a systems-oriented approach, Dennis interrogates the discourses and practices of Black, queer, and Indigenous liberation.

- Description: This year, the Winter Workspace program consists of two back-to-back, eight-week sessions, in which New York area artists research and develop work informed by the site, ecology and history of Wave Hill. Now in its sixteenth year, the Winter Workspace has supported more than 165 artists with studio space and funding. Artists are encouraged to expand their practices using resources from the garden, including access to Wave Hill’s thriving plant collections, horticultural and curatorial staff, horticulture and art libraries, history, architecture and visitors.

- Description: Rejecting rigid definitions of Puerto Rican identities, RicanVisions: Global Ancestralities and Embodied Futures showcases the richness of contemporary Diasporican art. By elevating voices that have been historically marginalized, the exhibition creates a platform for artists to break free from conventional iconographies and narratives. It unites artists across generations—each innovating visually and thematically—contributing to the ever-evolving Diasporican canon.

- Description: New York’s age of graffiti began on the city streets in the early 1970s. This new movement, often consciously artistic despite its unsanctioned origins, came of age over the next 20 years. Above Ground centers on the many artists who transitioned from illegally writing on subway cars to creating paintings on canvas and exhibiting in galleries and museums. Their works embody an important transitional moment for the movement’s evolution, as it permeated into broader consciousness and significantly influenced global culture.

- Description: Lorenzo Homar was a pioneering printmaker, poster designer, calligrapher, painter, illustrator, caricaturist, and costume and theatrical set designer. Active from the 1950s through the 1990s, few equal his impact and influence as a teacher of poster design and printmaking in Latin America. This exhibition focuses on his poster output over a thirty year period during which time his work reflected the complex history of Puerto Rico, encompassing elements of Taíno, Spanish, and African cultures as well as the rising tensions between tradition and modernity under the Luis Muñoz Marín government. His influence is so extensive that today he is known as the father of the Puerto Rican poster.
