I want to study at The Art Students League because I feel that it’s time that I start pushing myself to do classes that will improve myself and my portfolio. I have a lot to learn and feel that the League is a productive next step. I feel that classes at the League, especially figure drawing, will help me understand basic fundamentals before I dive into more complex projects. I also look forward to learning around different types of people, even if we’re working in a quiet studio environment.
“I hope to widen my comfortability with all different types of materials and take classes across as many different mediums as I can”
In the future, I’d love to have a career in an art gallery, or I’d like to own my own tattoo studio. I know for certain that I want to be involved in something that requires hands-on creative work.
I’ve been influenced by many artists, including Frida Kahlo, David Lynch, Jung Yeon Min, and Chriss Conn. In my own practice, I feel that I lack works made from observation in my portfolio, as well as knowledge about composition and how to fill out a page with intention. At the League, I hope to widen my comfortability with all different types of materials and take classes across as many different mediums as I can, especially ceramics.
