Around the age of fourteen, I knew what I wanted to do when I finished college – become a painter. Mastery of the art of painting is a goal I have had for years, and I want to take the necessary steps to evolve into a great artist.

I am primarily interested in oil painting, but I want to also attain a high degree of skill in egg tempera, gouache, and watercolor painting. Printmaking is another medium I want to dive into

Copper plate engraving and woodcutting are two of my favorite printmaking techniques in art history, and I feel it is only natural to learn them. I am inspired by artists like Albrecht Dürer, Jan van Eyck, Hans Holbein the Younger, and Martin Schongauer whose technical and artistic abilities I hope to someday emulate in my own way. In order to properly develop my abilities, I believe that I need to perfect my drawing skills before moving on to painting. My understanding of anatomy, proportion, technical skill, and composition must be at a certain level before I begin painting wholeheartedly. This method makes for a stronger foundation, in my opinion.
