I love making things. When I imagine my future, I see myself making things. I’ve been making jewelry for about three years and am now selling it at Washington Square Park and other vending events. I learned to make jewelry by watching YouTube tutorials and have spent hours playing around with wire and beads. I’ve reached a point where I’m quite comfortable in my jewelry making process. I’ve created a formula for myself, and I often change things up to keep my process interesting, but I’m currently feeling like I’m in a bit of a rut.

I started figure drawing and painting a couple months ago at a friend’s live drawing party. I felt intimidated and insecure about my abilities but as soon as I started working, I felt alive in a way I hadn’t since my early days learning jewelry making. Since that party I’ve spent a lot of my time drawing people on the subway, my friends, and strangers in the park. I love learning new creative skills and I want to keep growing and giving myself new tools to explore with. When I imagine myself at 60 I see a cool creative human who is surrounded by art. I want the evidence of creative exploration to fill my home.

Becoming a Seedling would be a huge step in the right direction. At League, I would have the support and resources necessary to experiment with my art practice and learn through instruction. This would allow my work to evolve in ways I can’t even imagine. I understand that you have to know the rules to break them!
