I want to study at the Art Students League because I wish to further develop my drawing and painting skills. I also want to use this opportunity to figure out what my career will be in life. I am in the process of finishing my undergraduate studies, but I feel that I have reached a point where I am stuck, and I do not know what to do. I am considering graduate school, but I need to make a strong portfolio. I am confident that classes at The League will help me decide on an excellent career path.
“I am confident that classes at The League will help me decide on an excellent career path.”
I am not entirely sure what I want to do in life. I am considering a multitude of careers: scenic artist, animator, poetry book illustrator, etc. I hope to learn many skills as I continue to push forward in life. I hope to be in a position where I utilize every skill in my arsenal.
The artist that influenced me the most is Erik Desmazières. He is a contemporary artist and engraver who makes a series of dark and gothic illustrations. I began to develop my own style with pen and ink illustrations. I discovered this artist months ago and I saw his work was like mine in terms of subject matter and emotion. During my senior year, I have made many pen and ink illustrations and I consider it to be my strongest art skill.
