I realized l was capable of reaching people through my humor. Making others laugh helps me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile with my life. I will admit that I’m not the most confident with my art or with myself, so it means a lot when people take the time of day to laugh at something I’ve made.

I went to the High School of Art and Design, where I majored in cartooning which really helped me realize that comics and cartoons are a form of visual media that I really love. I grew up loving Peanuts, Captain Underpants, Tintin, and more and recently got into graphic novels such as Scott Pilgrim and Japanese manga.
One of my biggest influences is Stephen Hillenburg, the cartoonist that created SpongeBob to teach kids about marine biology since that is what he studied in college before deciding he wanted to be a cartoonist. Another influence is Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip series. When I get out of college, I hope to work on webcomics and children’s books. I realized this is what I wanted to do in high school after I won the Best of Borough creative writing award for my short graphic novel “Me Myself and I”.
