Since I started my Junior year at the High School of Art and Design, I have only heard good things about the Art Students League from a variety of teachers. I fully believe if I study here, I would be able to further develop my art beyond what my school offers me. I have such a strong passion for art, most of my days are spent working on my own personal artwork and even future assignments. At the League, I would love to experience working in a setting with other artists with different skill sets, and share ideas with other students and mentors. No matter what, I will create art, but this setting would help me grow as an artist.

“I am finally in a comfortable position with my art and can further experiment with styles, color, and new themes.”
When I grow up, I dream of being an art teacher. I currently tutor a middle school student in art, and I receive so much joy from being able to help them create and build a passion for art as strong as mine. In school, I get a lot out of peer-reviewing art and critiques, both in helping myself as well as helping others push themselves further.

The artist that has influenced me the most is Dahui Wang. Before I discovered him, I mostly relied on realism and only created what I thought my peers would want to see and not what I wanted. When I discovered Dahui Wang at Comic Con, I realized just how much beauty there is in surrealism and horror. I realized I could create what I really love, combining my fascination with bugs and horror with my skills in realism. I could create not for others, but for myself. I am finally in a comfortable position with my art and can further experiment with styles, color, and new themes.
