My name is Antonio, and I’m a self-taught artist that would love a formal start to the practice. As an artist, I need to ask myself, “What’s next?” In doing so, getting out of my comfort zone is essential if I want to grow. In this program, I hope to learn the small details of how to make my art better and more concise while also keeping my overall style. As I grow older, I would love to continue to make all sorts of art, even if it’s on the side.

Modern art has had a huge influence on me, most notably Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Takashi Murakami, and Mr. Doodle. They all have a strong sense of creativity and knowledge of the world that seamlessly translates into their work. The idea of modern art interests me because it shows the world that so much could be said with so little. Seeing this from my favorite artists (musical as well) lets me know I can do the same, but in my way, with my drawings, and with my characters. I started drawing in the summer of 2020 as a way of isolating myself from the already isolated world. I looked for two different colored sharpies, and I doodled away. I later contacted a friend who also paints and asked him if we could make something together. From that point on, I always wanted to make more. The number of ideas was endless, and I couldn’t help but put them down somewhere, whether it be on canvas or paper.
